I have
often dreamed
Of a far off
place
Where a hero's
welcome
Would be waiting
for me
Where the crowds
will cheer
When they see my
face
And a voice
keeps saying
This is where
I'm meant to be
I'll be there
someday
I can go the
distance
I will find my
way
If I can be
strong
I know ev'ry
mile
Will be worth my
while
When I go the
distance
I'll be right
where I belong
Down an unknown
road
To embrace my
fate
Though the road
may wander
It will lead me
to you
And a thousand
years
Would be worth
the wait
It may take a
lifetime
But somehow I'll
see it through
And I won't look
back
I can go the
distance
And I'll stay on
track
No I won't
accept defeat
It's an uphill
slope
But I won't lose
hope
Till I go the
distance
And my journey
is complete
But to look
beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's
strength is measured by her heart
Like a shooting
star
I can go the
distance
I will search
the world
I will face its
harms
I don't care how
far
I can go the
distance
Till I find my
hero's welcome
Waiting in your
arms...
I will search
the world
I will face its
harms
Till I find my
hero's welcome
Waiting in your
arms...

Candy is my special
redheaded friend. I watched her litter being born and I knew she was special
from the time she was a tiny baby. Its not just her bright red color and HUGE
ears, although that tends to make people look at her. It is her big brown eyes
that she knows how to flirt with. It is her rolling over on her back for belly
rubs, and the look of serenity that comes on her face when someone obliges her.
It is her sweet and gentle personality that makes everyone want to pat her.
Yes Candy was a show dog.
She finished her championship with three majors. Her show career is most
memorable for her great “cookie face” when she was begging for liver and the way
she used to kiss the judges when she was up on the table. Her next activity was
obedience. She completed her CD but told me that she really didn’t have her
heart in it. Now agility was a different story altogether! She earned her Open
Standard title in just five trials, and got her first Excellent Standard leg her
first time out. Candy was patient enough to train me to run with her. She
earned her second Excellent Standard leg at the 2001 Cardigan National
Specialty, and earned her AX title a few weeks later. Thanks so much to
co-owner Jean Conroy who trained both of us, and served as Candy’s handler when
I couldn’t go to trials myself. Best of all, Candy earned her CWCCA Versatility
Excellent Certificate for her accomplishments in so many areas. I can’t say
enough good things about this versatile and beautiful little dog.
